Goldie, the Golden Retriever
Hello People! I am Goldie, the Golden Retriever, the Official Golden Realty Spokesdog. I take my responsibilities seriously here at Golden Realty, (that may be one reason they decided to name the company after me). My latest job around here is providing dog friendly content to this blog. So here it goes…my first ever blog post.
Seasons GreEATings
Around the Holiday’s us furry folk are inundated with so many wonderful smells. But often the food that you humans like to eat is poisonous for us canine type. Did you know that chocolate, grapes, raisins and even Macadamia nuts contain dangerous toxins that can cause problems that may require a trip to the Vet or worse death? Don’t let that happen to your beloved pet.
It’s best to be safe, be aware and take precautions to avoid any potential hazards.
Here are 10 quick tips to keep your furry friends happy, healthy and safe this Holiday Season…
Tip 1: Put food away immediately, and pet proof the garbage.
Tip 2: Plants such as Poinsettias, Holly and Mistletoe are poisonous, so place them out of your pets range.
Tip 3: Keep burning candles out of tail wagging range.
Tip 4: Sometimes gifts under the tree contain aromas that tempt even the most well behaved dogs. I am guilty of this one. I have been known to tear open a few packages before Christmas morning and eat all the contents. So please people…make sure if the packages contain scented items, do not trust us dogs to stay away. Remember, we are opportunists.
Tip 5: Bones of any kind can cause problems if swallowed. Just to be safe, don’t give your special friends any leftover bones. Oh and ask your guests to not feed us either.
Tip 6: Make sure the Christmas tree is well secured and the water is covered.
Tip 7: Decorations can be tempting to play with, make sure glass ornaments and power cords are closely monitored.
Tip 8: Keep your beloved pet on their regular routine of feeding and exercise. All the hustle and bustle can cause us to stress out a bit. So stick with the routine as much as possible.
Tip 9: If it’s cold outside…bring your pets inside. Even though we wear a fu
r coat, we get cold too. Especially for us older dogs, the cold can be very had on our joints.
Tip 10: And finally, with all the Holiday festivities, remember to relax and spend some quality time with your special friends. Take it from me, Goldie, your pets think you are the best gift of all.
