Pleasant Hill
In 1846, the first home in Lane County was built in Pleasant Hill by early settler Elijah Bristow. Upon Bristow’s arrival at this location and standing on top a low rolling ridge sparsely covered with oak, fir and pine timber, he named the town Pleasant Hill. Pleasant Hill is located 12 miles southeast of Eugene on Hwy 58, with the Willamette River running along the west border and the McKenzie River along the north border. Pleasant Hill is surrounded by recreational opportunities including Elijah Bristow State Park, named after Mr. Bristow. The Park contains 847 acres of meadows, woodlands, wetlands and trails offering opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, fishing, biking, and wildlife viewing.
